Design Team Questionnaire—Traci Severson
- How long have you been scrapbooking?
I have been scrapbooking in some form or fashion since I was in third grade. Unfortunately, my very first scrapbook was lost when my childhood home flooded.
- What are your favorite products?
Hands down Tim Holtz products (all of them), with a close second to rub-ons, the Bind-it-All, and then Prima flowers. And obviously paper.
- Who are your favorite manufacturers?
My favorites are JBS Mercantile (Jenni Bowlin), Sassafras Lass, Bazzill, 7 Gypsies, Prima, Teresa Collins, Glitz, Creative Imaginations Narratives by Karen Russell.
- How would you describe your style?
My style changes with each layout I create. I really try to follow what I feel the photos are saying to me, and I flow from there as I am pairing paper with embellishments.
- What are your favorite colors and combinations?
I tend to be a girly-girl, so I really love pink and lots of bling. On a more serious note, I lean towards vintage color combinations such as leather brown, lemonade yellow and that beautiful old-time blue.
- What type of projects do you usually make?
I will try to cover anything with paper, especially nut containers. I also like to make gifts for friends and fun, funky albums with awesome “found” items. I also enjoy making embellishments with my Cuttlebug dies.
- What’s your favorite scrapbooking tool?
Singular – only one tool? My Tim Holtz sanding block.
- Where do you look for inspiration?
I have a blog that I consistently go to for inspiration, but I also enjoy browsing Target, Anthropologie and Pottery Barn for color, texture and patterns. Billboards and menus are sort of interesting, too.
- What advice do you have for beginning scrapbookers?
Don’t be afraid to use all that beautiful paper. I will admit that I still have this fear, the fear of using all the beautiful paper I have stashed away so I’ve found that cutting through it or cutting out elements from it is the best remedy for convincing myself to use it. If I never use it, I will have lots of beautiful paper just sitting around looking at me and not one stunning project to show for it.
